A day at Lancaster Montessori looks like…

DAY STARTS AT 8:30am

Kids of multiple ages are dropped off and instantly hang their coats and backpacks on their own hook. They then go to the near-by mat and swap their outdoor shoes for some indoor slippers.

NEXT…IS UP TO THEM.

Each student will be given ample free time to explore the space that has been specifically designed for them. From learning letter sounds through wooden letters, to counting beads, to some puzzle specifically designed to strengthen fine-motor skills, each activity is designed to be both educational and fun.

A QUICK 15 MINUTES

At some point, the instructor will ask the children to all sit in their designated spots and do a small group activity. This could be reading them a story, teaching them a song about the days of the week, or discussing a fascinating cocoon they found.

SNACK TIME

Everyday, there is a student leader who brings in a snack to share with the class, and an object from home to show to the class. This student will also be the instructor’s helper for the day. This gives children a small taste of responsibility. They rise to the occasion serve and lead in a way they haven’t before.

Go outside!

Rain or shine, our kids are outside. They run, climb, imagine, and create whole worlds with their fellow classmates.

Time to go home

That is if you are in Preschool. If you are in Kindergarten, it is time to eat lunch.

KINDERGARTENERS GET TO WORK

After lunch, the older students will be given more challenging Montessori works that help gain all the skills needed for first grade. At 2:30, it will be time to go home!
